The Need

A local government agency received a grant to develop and implement an approach for increasing the number of African American families choosing to adopt or do foster care. To that end, they wanted to better understand the barriers to and motivations for foster care and adoption in the community.

The Solution

DeYoung Consulting Services conducted focus groups and interviews with key stakeholders and completed best practices research. Based on the findings, we recommended processes and procedures to make the foster care and adoption system, from the initial call to program participation, more user friendly for potential and existing foster and adoptive families.
